What is My Midlife Story?

My Midlife Story is a free, private menopause and perimenopause symptom tracker for iPhone that turns the notes you choose into a one-page visit brief for your doctor. Log hot flashes, night sweats, sleep, brain fog and mood in a single tap, add your own words when you want to, and keep every question you mean to ask.

It is for women and anyone going through perimenopause or menopause who want to remember what changed and explain it clearly, without keeping a long daily diary.

Left to right: one-tap logging, the editable visit brief, and the one-page PDF. All screens show fictional sample records.

Why track menopause symptoms at all?

Because the story is long and it shifts. The NHS (2026) says symptoms usually last 7 to 9 years, sometimes longer, and can change over time: hot flushes may give way to low mood or anxiety. The list is wide, from sleep problems and brain fog to joint pains, palpitations and headaches. And the NIH's National Institute on Aging (2024) notes that menopause can only be confirmed one year after a final period, with an average age of 52 in the United States.

Nobody remembers fourteen months of night sweats in a ten-minute appointment. A dated record does.

This is general information, not medical advice. Talk to your clinician. The NHS lists reasons to see a doctor promptly, including palpitations, heavier bleeding than before, and any bleeding after your periods have stopped.

How the doctor visit brief works

  1. Log Tap a symptom when it happens. Date and time are saved. Use Something changed when a symptom shifts or a prescribed treatment changes; later notes never overwrite earlier ones.
  2. Find Search every note by its original date, and filter by 7, 30 or 90 days or a year.
  3. Bring Pick a main concern, up to three questions and the notes to share. Edit one page, then save a PDF, print it or share it when you decide.

The story garden, and a decision we made

Story garden screen at Chapter 4, Blooming, with garden looks and chapter progress
Eight chapters, Seedling to Forest.

Every note grows an animated garden. You move through eight chapters, collect 16 hand-drawn flowers by writing about new topics and earn 15 gentle milestones. Sounds follow your Silent switch.

The decision: points never depend on symptoms or how you feel, and there are no streaks to lose. A bad week isn't a lower score, and a break never removes progress. A symptom app that rewarded "good days" would quietly teach you to stop writing down the bad ones.

On harder days, Low-Capacity mode shows larger, calmer controls and one main action at a time. VoiceOver, Dynamic Type and Reduce Motion are supported.

Menopause tracker questions

Is My Midlife Story free?

Yes. One-tap logging, history, search, visit briefs, PDF export, reminders, encrypted backup and deletion are free with no account. Optional Premium (monthly or annual) adds period comparisons, grouped Replays, advanced visit briefs, Playbooks, a yearly Passport and extra garden looks. Your records are never hidden if Premium ends.

Do I need to log every day?

No. Save a note only when something is worth remembering. Missing days stay unknown, not symptom-free.

Does the app diagnose menopause?

No. It organizes your own notes and questions. It does not diagnose, recommend treatment or doses, or say one thing caused another.

Can I use it for perimenopause?

Yes. It's built for perimenopause, menopause and the years beyond, for women and anyone going through those changes.

What goes in the visit brief?

You pick your main concern, up to three questions and the notes you want to share. You preview and edit one page, then save it as a PDF, print it or share it only when you decide. Every line links back to your original note.

Where is my data kept?

On your device. No account, no ads, no tracking and no automatic health-data uploads. You can make a password-encrypted backup or delete everything anytime.

Does it work on iPad?

Yes, on iPhone and iPad.
