What is CraveBreaker?

CraveBreaker is a free iPhone app for quitting vaping that gives you something useful to do within seconds of a craving. Tap "I have a craving" and pick what feels doable: a 90-second reset, a small puzzle, a timer, your own reasons, or a way to reach someone. No sign-up stands between you and the tool.

The ring above is a 60-second taste. In the app the timer runs 1, 3 or 5 minutes, or your own length.

Seven things to do when a vape craving hits

Each is a single tap from the craving screen. All seven are free.

  1. A 90-second reset. Slow breathing, then a quiet 5-4-3-2-1 grounding exercise.
  2. Pattern Break. Tap a tile to flip it and its neighbours until every tile lights up.
  3. A craving timer. 1, 3 or 5 minutes, or your own length.
  4. Your reasons. The words you wrote for yourself, not ours.
  5. Change the routine. Practical swaps for coffee, driving, stress and work breaks.
  6. Move for a moment. Seated options first. Nothing required.
  7. Reach out. Text someone you trust or find free quitline support.

A craving is a moment, and a moment is easier to beat with a plan already written.

Why quitting vaping feels this hard

The CDC (2024) notes that people who vape can become addicted to nicotine, and that quitting vaping is likely similar to quitting smoking because both involve nicotine addiction. Smokefree.gov (accessed 2026) describes cravings to vape as common but temporary, and suggests breathing in slowly through your nose and out through your mouth, ten times, until the craving passes.

That breath is where our 60-second ring ends. The app's short guides are based on Smokefree.gov and Health Canada guidance.

One decision we made on purpose

A slip does not wipe your record, because one bad evening should not feel like a lost month. In CraveBreaker your quit date, total vape-free days and earned milestones stay. You record what happened, adjust the plan, and pick the next step.

Honest limits

  • A self-help tool for adults. It does not diagnose, treat or measure anything about your health.
  • It does not prescribe nicotine replacement or medication. For that, talk to a doctor or pharmacist.
  • Quitline info covers the U.S. and Canada only.
  • iPhone only.

Pick something else if you want group chat, coaching from a person, or a program run by your clinician. A quitline is the better first call there.

Quit vaping app questions

What is the best app to quit vaping?

The one you will actually open mid-craving. CraveBreaker puts an "I have a craving" button first, with no account, no paywall and no questionnaire in front of it. If you also want a person to talk to, pair any app with a free quitline such as 1-800-QUIT-NOW, listed by Smokefree.gov.

Is CraveBreaker free?

Every craving tool is free, along with support resources, your quit plan and reasons, the craving log, journal, data export, progress record, basic patterns, a savings estimate and the first 7 plan missions. Premium is optional: all 30 missions and the 66-day path, preparation sessions, detailed insights and a monthly money report, sold weekly, annually (3-day trial for eligible new subscribers) or as a one-time lifetime purchase.

How long does a vape craving last?

We do not put a number on it, because cravings differ from person to person. Smokefree.gov says cravings to vape are common but temporary, and fade the longer you stay quit. That is why the app's craving timer lets you pick 1, 3 or 5 minutes, or your own length, and add time if you need it.

What if I vape after my quit date?

Record it without judgment. Your original quit date, total vape-free days and earned milestones stay. The app asks what happened so you can adjust your plan and choose the next step.

Does CraveBreaker track my health?

No. It does not measure anything about your body. Progress shows only what you recorded: vape-free stretches, cravings handled and milestones from real actions.

Do I need an account?

No. There is no account, no ads and no analytics. Your logs, journal, reasons and plan stay on your iPhone, work offline, and can be exported or deleted from Settings.
