How do you quit vaping in college?
Quit vaping in college by planning around the semester, not your willpower: pick a calm week, name your campus triggers, line up free support, and decide in advance what you'll do at the first party. College makes quitting harder in specific, predictable ways. Predictable is good news. It means you can plan for it.
You're not unusual if you vape. Among college students, past-month nicotine vaping rose from 6.1% in 2017 to 22% in 2019 (NIH, Monitoring the Future (2019 data)), and the newest national data says past-30-day nicotine vaping among young adults has tripled since 2017 (NIH (August 2026)). A lot of people around you are trying to quit too.
The campus isn't against you. It just has a schedule, and your plan should have one too.
The semester quit checklist
Tick these as you go. They sync with the ring at the top of the page, and none of it is saved anywhere.
Eight small decisions made on a quiet Tuesday save you from making them at a party at midnight.
Who this checklist is not for
- Anyone with chest pain, trouble breathing or another emergency. Call 911 or your local emergency number, then worry about the plan.
- People who want a medical quit plan with medication. That conversation belongs with your campus health center, a doctor or a pharmacist.
- Parents trying to get a student to quit. Truth Initiative has a text line for you: QUIT to (202) 899-7550.
A checklist is a plan, not treatment. Use both if you need both.
How CraveBreaker fits a college quit, in 3 steps
- Build the plan in about two minutes. Choose your path (preparing to quit, quit recently, staying vape-free, or cutting back before a quit date), then pick triggers like "study break" or "party" and your reasons.
- Open it when the craving hits. Tap "I have a craving" for a 90-second reset, the Pattern Break puzzle, a 1, 3 or 5-minute timer, or a quick text to someone. No account, no paywall in front.
- Log it, slip included. Record the craving and whether you vaped. If you did, your quit date, total vape-free days and milestones stay. Patterns appear once there's enough to be meaningful.

The best time to open a quit app is ninety seconds before you'd have reached for the vape.
Honest limits
We make CraveBreaker, so here's what it won't do. It isn't treatment and doesn't measure anything about your body; it only shows what you recorded. It doesn't connect you to classmates or a campus program. It's iPhone only. And while every craving tool, your plan, the craving log, the journal and the first 7 plan missions are free, the full 30-mission, 66-day path and deeper insights are Premium (weekly, annual with a 3-day trial for eligible new subscribers, or lifetime).
One design decision we made on purpose: nothing punishes a missed day. A semester has bad weeks. A tool that wipes your streak after one party teaches you to stop opening it.
Free covers the moment of the craving. Premium covers the long path. You don't need Premium to quit.
