Where can you get free help to quit vaping?
In the US, call 1-800-QUIT-NOW (1-800-784-8669): it transfers you to your own state's quitline, which is free, confidential and helps with e-cigarettes. That is the "near me" answer for every state, from the CDC's quitline guidance (January 2025). If phone calls are not your thing, the flowchart below routes you to text, chat or app support instead. More free tools live at smokefree.gov.
The decision flowchart
- Do you live in the US?Yes: keep going. Canada: call 1-866-366-3667 or see your provincial service. Elsewhere: ask your national health service or a pharmacist.
- Would you talk to a coach on the phone?Yes: 1-800-QUIT-NOW, or 1-855-DÉJELO-YA (1-855-335-3569) in Spanish. Ask about free medicines while you're on (CDC, 2025).
- Prefer texts?Text QUITNOW to 333888 (rates may apply). Youth and young adults: text DITCHVAPE to 88709. Parents and other adults: QUIT to (202) 899-7550 (Truth Initiative).
- Prefer typing to a person?NCI LiveHelp chat, listed on Smokefree.gov, or call 1-877-44U-QUIT.
- Need something for the craving right now?Breathe slowly ten times until it passes (Smokefree.gov), then keep a free tool on your phone for next time.
You can combine them. A coach on Monday and an app at 11 p.m. on Friday is a normal mix.
Friday, 11:14 p.m.
The quitline closed hours ago and the text program sent its message at lunch. The craving doesn't care. This is the gap we built CraveBreaker for: one button, "I have a craving", and something useful starts within seconds. A 90-second reset. A small puzzle. A timer you can stop early. The reasons you wrote for yourself on a better day. No account and no paywall, because the moment is too short for either.
An invented example.
Honest limits
- CraveBreaker is self-help, not a coach. It does not replace a quitline or a doctor, and it shows quitline links inside the app for that reason.
- Free covers every craving tool, the quit plan, log, journal, progress record and first 7 missions. Premium (weekly, annual with a 3-day trial for eligible new subscribers, or lifetime) adds the 66-day path, all 30 missions and deeper insights.
- Quitline hours, medicine offers and text programs vary and can change. Check the source links.
- iPhone only.
Inside the app

How to use free help, in 3 steps
- Pick a main route. Use the sorter above. Call or text today, while you're motivated.
- Add a pocket tool. Something for the hours the quitline is closed. CraveBreaker is one free option.
- Plan your triggers. Write down when you usually vape and what you'll do instead. Coaches and the app both start there.

Free quit-vaping help: common questions
Is there free help to quit vaping near me?
In the US, yes, in every state. Calling 1-800-QUIT-NOW automatically transfers you to your state quitline, and quitline services are free and confidential (CDC, 2025). Quitlines help with e-cigarettes as well as cigarettes.
Can I get free nicotine patches or gum for vaping?
Sometimes. Some state quitlines offer free cessation medicines, and others give vouchers or discounts (CDC, 2025). Ask when you call 1-800-QUIT-NOW, and check with a doctor or pharmacist what suits you.
Is there a text program to quit vaping?
Yes. The National Texting Portal: text QUITNOW to 333888, or DÉJELOYA to 333888 in Spanish; message and data rates may apply (CDC, 2025). Truth Initiative's free text program: youth and young adults text DITCHVAPE to 88709; parents and other adults text QUIT to (202) 899-7550 (Truth Initiative).
Can I talk to someone online instead of calling?
Yes. Smokefree.gov lists the National Cancer Institute's LiveHelp online chat with a trained expert, as well as 1-877-44U-QUIT (1-877-448-7848).
What about Canada?
Health Canada lists a national toll-free number, 1-866-366-3667, to talk to a quit coach, plus provincial and territorial services (Health Canada, 2024). Check your province's listing for vaping-specific support.
Is CraveBreaker free help too?
Every craving tool in CraveBreaker is free, always: the 90-second reset, Pattern Break, the craving timer, your reasons and quitline links. The quit plan, craving log, journal and first 7 plan missions are free as well. Premium adds all 30 missions, the 66-day path and deeper insights.
